I have always admired "The Machine's Pump" that Carl Finch writes on the Brave Combo site.
It is a combination of newsletter, journal, and philosophical statement. It is my intent to do
something like that here. Many of my friends don't know that I had a local newspaper column
back in the seventies. Most of these appeared in the now defunct Denton County Enterprise,
but several also appeared in the Denton Record Chronicle and in the Clarksville Times - my
hometown newspaper. Each month I will offer current observations plus some from the past.
Ah, my deare angrie Lord,
Since thou dost love, yet strike;
Cast down, yet help afford;
Sure I will do the like.
I will complain, yet praise;
I will bewail, approve:
And all my sowre-sweet dayes
I will lament, and love.
The name of my column, Bittersweet, came from a poem written by George Herbert (1593-1633).

Short discourses from various sources relating to man and his Maker. For people like you with nothing to do but read another newspaper.

If you read this carefully, you will find out that I have repeated myself from time to time. As an old guy past 70, I have certainly earned that right.
